Humanities Faculty Writing Retreat
Call for Applications: Spring 2023 Humanities Faculty Writing Retreat
Deadline for applications: February 15, 2023
Feel like you never have enough time to write, especially since the pandemic? We are all feeling it. The Society for the Humanities is proud to pilot a spring Writing Retreat for Humanities faculty to give you some space and time to work on your writing project(s).
Our first spring retreat will take place May 19-21, 2023 at Syracuse University's Minnowbrook Conference Center, Blue Mountain Lake, NY in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. The award includes 2 nights' lodging and all meals.
All you need to do is find a ride, pack your books, bring your laptop, clear your head, and get ready to write. Except for meal times, your time at the writing retreat will be unstructured with multiple places to work: your room, the conference center, the board room in the boat house, or on a deck chair overlooking the lake. And for a break, canoes, kayaks, and hikes are ready to go at the conference center.

Eligibility
Eligible to apply are Cornell University faculty members (tenure stream, professors of practice, and lecturers) who have an active research agenda in any humanities discipline.
Especially encouraged to apply are faculty who currently or historically have been in service-heavy administrative roles; BIPOC faculty; LGBTQ+ faculty, women faculty, and/or first-generation faculty (i.e., first in your family to attend college).
The competition will be administered by the Humanities Council.
