Overview
Amy Chun Kim is a historian of aesthetic modernism from its European origins to its global aftermaths, focusing on the relationship between painting, sculpture and architecture. She completed her Ph.D. in the History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley, and J.D. from Yale Law School. She has published essays on abstract art in the interwar period, the history of critical theory from that time to the present, and the unaddressed problem of capitalism in contemporary theories of constitutional democracy. As a Fellow, she will be completing revisions to her book, Ideologies of Pure Abstraction: Modernism between Paris and Moscow, which is forthcoming from Verso. She will also be working on a new book project, The Nomos of Urban Space.
